Party like it's 1989

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAYLOR SWIFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As many of you know I am a massive Taylor Swift fan! And I love celebrating birthday's even if I'm celebrating for someone who doesn't even know who I am... because I'm just that kinda girl!

There are so many reasons I love Taylor. She is such an amazing role model to girls everywhere, she is the funniest, nerdiest and just most inspirational and beautiful 26 year old female on the planet and I think I speak for everyone when I say that I would love to have a friend like Taylor! Which is one of the greatest things about the Swifty fan community... they are all mini Taylor's who are the kindest, sweetest little cutie pies ever!

I had the pleasure of meeting Jaime (and her awesome mum) on the train to London in the Summer on the way to the 1989 World Tour London show in Hyde Park! I was waiting at the train station and saw a girl standing there in all her Taylor merchandise and just had to approach her and share the excitement of the day ahead! On that train journey I discovered that I was having just a casual conversation with one of the most popular and successful owner's of a Taylor Swift fan page on Instagram (and Facebook!). I couldn't believe it when she told me she had over 20,000 followers and now she's reaching the 40,000 mark! Absolutely phenomenal! I couldn't believe how many Swift fans were following her posts about Tay and sharing her love for this amazing being! It was really inspiring to see someone so in love with such an amazing woman sharing that love with around 40,000 other people!!! I felt very privileged to have made a friend that day and not just any friend... a really really sweet and excited Swift fan friend!

I think the most beautiful thing about Taylor Swift and her besotted fans is that they are so kind and loving and caring and make you feel really good! They're an incredibly supportive fan base both of Taylor and each other and I think Taylor would be so proud of that and probably is!

So I got in contact with Jaime a few weeks ago and we decided to collaborate to bring you today's post! She knows so much about Taylor and has so many things to share about what she loves about her most and I couldn't wait to ask her so we decided to bring all those answers to all you Swift fans out there!

Here is an exclusive Q&A with the one and only @candyflossswift

1. What's your favourite Taylor Swift song?

Just one?!? HOW? I have this issue whenever someone asks me this because ill list like 3 as my favourite and then I begin to add more and more. I'll be like (as an example) "The lucky one, Holy Ground and Invisible... oh and Long Live and Enchanted. Oh Haunted to" and so I've come to the conclusion I don't have a favourite Taylor Swift song, I obviously have my favourites but to pick just one is somewhat impossible for me. I loved Last Kiss forever and so I guess to pick just one it would be that, but I mean right now in my mind I'm brainstorming tonnes of Taylor songs I love and why I love them and why each would make my favourite list.

2. What's your personal favourite album?

Red. I'm sorry but it's songwriting gold, I mean all of Taylor's albums are song writing gold but come on it's Red Smiling face with heart-shaped eyes

3. What Taylor quote do you live by?

“If you think about human nature, our favourite pair of shoes are the ones we bought yesterday, our favourite thing is the newest thing that we have…and the thing we’ve seen the most and for the longest period of time is our reflection in the mirror, so obviously that’s going to be our least favourite thing.” - Taylor Swift

This is by far my favourite Taylor quote. I mean it's so true and so clever, it just makes sense. I always remember this when I'm having an off day, everyone has those. This just makes me feel better. It's a quote I give to a lot of people around me, it's normal to feel bad about ourselves from time to time, some times you just need a little reminder that no one is perfect, and something you may hate about your appearance someone out there finds it and you beautiful. Be you.

4. What interesting fact about Taylor do you know?

My favourite Taylor fact is her breaking her toe running to answer the door for pizza when she was younger. I mean how can you not love her? Talking of pizza and reasons to love Taylor another interesting/one of my favourite Swift facts is in London in 2009(? I think 2009) she bought fans waiting outside of her hotel tonnes of pizza because she was going out for dinner and couldn't stay. Like honestly she's an angel!! Slice of pizzaSlice of pizzaSlice of pizza

5. Have you met her and when?

Yes. I have met Taylor Swift. The real life Taylor Alison Swift... THATS A REAL LIFE THING I WILL NEVER GET OVER. I met her in London October 9th 2014. I waited outside of The Shard where she had an interview and was there for hours, I was the first one there and it was freezing but soon worth it. She's an angel and so of course stopped to say hello. And you know what? Not only did I get to meet my idol but I got to meet some really amazing other swifts to, we got to share such an amazing moment together. We still meet and see each other over a year on and its just magical, we all share this amazing memory and get to create even more together. Meeting Taylor wouldn't have been the same without them <3

6. What did she say to you?!

I was crying so much. I could hardly speak, and so she really took her time with me. Usually meeting fans on the street she as to be quick but because there wasn't many of us she got to stop for pictures and a talk with each of us. She hugged me and took the painting I had made her, she said it was "too good, you don't want to give that away that's so nice". Me crying told her she had to take it and of course she thanked me and asked me if I wanted a "picture or something?". I cried some more and waited for mum to get our picture... only we posed for quite a while and mum only managed to get one picture of us hugging and it was blurred... but it's all good because I met Taylor Alison Swift and that's all that matters. Life = COMPLETE.

7. Why do you love her so much?

She's so talented. Her music and way she's able to portray that on stage. She brings her songs to life on stage and its pure magic to see. And then of course she's this adorable dork with the biggest heart EVER. She's so down to earth, talented and great with her fans.

8. What made you create a fan page?

Other fan pages inspired me to create @candyflossswift. I followed quite a few on my personal Instagram and was starting to think about making my own. I decided not to because I wasn't sure i'd have the time. Anyways someone was doing an account giveaway and I had put my name down for it, I created tonnes of edits (which are so bad by the way but at the time I thought they were so good). Anyway turns out I didn't win the account, which I'm so glad I didn't because then @candyflossswift was created and look at it now!!! It's so crazy how well the account has done. I can actually still remember who inspired my account and who my first follower was. @redswiftie1322 inspired my account, she was my favourite account and I adored her and her posts. And then my first follower was an account that no longer exists/changed user and her user at the time was @storybookswift. Overall the idea of the fan page was to share my edits of Taylor, little did I know it would become so much more than that, I now love @candyflossswift for the friends I have made and continue to make because of it.

9. Why do you think your fan page has become so MASSIVELY successful?

I never imagined my account being as big as it is. It's so crazy to even think about. When I started my account my ultimate goal was 500. But to be honest I was never big on having tonnes of followers, it didn't matter to me. Maybe that's why the accounts got as big as it has. I didn't worry about followers or likes. I did giveaways and would help people close to their goals. I think the key to a successful account is being nice, active and not caring about followers. Try not to get caught up on likes and follows, that's easier said than done I know. I went through a phase of caring about likes and it was nowhere near as fun/enjoyable as just posting and connecting with your followers.

10. What's the best thing about Swift Fans and being a Swift fan?

Swiftie's are generally great because they follow the example set by miss Swift which is being nice to others. I feel like we're all part of one big family. Meet ups and sending each other presents and cards. It's just nice. Everyone's so nice. Of course you get fans (like in any fandom) that can be mean etc, but thats life I guess. In general Taylor Swift fan's are excitable and very friendly. I love my swiftie family and wouldn't change it at all. I feel so at home when i'm surrounded by people that share my love for Taylor Swift.
